We believe in the dreamers. But more importantly, the doers. We'll provide the tools — you put in the work.
Bodybuilding.com isn't just for bodybuilders. We're for the lifters, the runners, and everyone who wants to get a little bit better each day.
From a 1999 startup to 25+ years shaping the fitness industry.
Started in 1999, Bodybuilding.com has been dedicated to enabling fitness as a life journey — cultivating the defining moments that helped shape today's industry. Our goal is to help millions reach their fitness and wellness goals.
Dedicated to a superior customer experience, we understand the consistency real change demands. Across 25 years we've led with education, served as presenting sponsor of the industry's largest shows and expos, and ranked among the leading sports nutrition sites in the country. Little known to most, we were one of the first online retailers of creatine — now the most researched and recognized supplement in existence.
Build Your Body,
Build Your Mind,
Build Your Life.™
Since 2018, Signature Series has been our one-stop supplement line — and it keeps getting better.
Our house brand, refreshed — improved formulas and zero artificial dyes. Proteins, pre-workouts, vitamins, and creatine built for the work.
A highly selective roster of third-party brands. We don't carry everyone — only the names that meet our bar for safety, quality, and excellence.
Workout and goal tracking, health metrics, master coaches, and a community to shop, learn, and connect — all in one place.
The discipline
Bodybuilding is the practice of building muscle, reducing fat, and shaping a physique through progressive resistance training, nutrition, and recovery. The stage is one expression of it. The other is everyday people getting stronger, moving better, and staying consistent long enough for the work to show.
At Bodybuilding.com we treat it as a life skill: train with intent, fuel the work, recover like it matters, and repeat. Whether you compete, lift for health, or just want to feel capable in your own body, the principles are the same.
Progressive overload is the engine. Add load, reps, or quality over time. Compound lifts — squat, hinge, press, pull — build the base. Isolation work shapes the details. Most people grow on 3–5 hard sessions a week, not daily punishment.
Muscle is built in the kitchen as much as the rack. Protein supports repair. Carbohydrates fuel training. Fats support hormones. A calorie surplus grows tissue; a deficit reveals it. Hydration and fiber are unglamorous and non-negotiable.
Growth happens between sessions. Sleep, rest days, and managing stress determine whether the plan sticks. Soreness is information, not a scoreboard. If you cannot recover, you cannot progress — no matter how perfect the split looks.
The physique you want is a byproduct of months and years, not a 14-day reset. Track lifts. Adjust when life gets loud. Stay close to the plan. Bodybuilding rewards the people who keep showing up after the novelty wears off.
Strength culture is ancient. Modern bodybuilding took shape in the late 19th century with physical culturists like Eugen Sandow, then exploded in the mid-20th century through contests, magazines, and gyms. The Mr. Olympia, first held in 1965, became the sport's biggest stage. The 1970s brought Arnold Schwarzenegger and a global audience. The decades after that built the supplement industry, the science of hypertrophy, and a training language millions now share.
The internet changed everything again. In 1999, Ryan and Karen DeLuca launched Bodybuilding.com from Boise as an education-first store — articles, programs, and products in one place. We were among the first online retailers of creatine, now one of the most researched sports supplements on earth for strength, muscle, and cognitive support. We sponsored the industry's largest shows and expos, built one of the web's largest fitness libraries, and in 2018 launched Signature Series, our house line of proteins, pre-workouts, vitamins, and creatine — later reformulated without artificial dyes.
Today the brand still sits at that intersection: shop, learn, train, and belong. The Bodybuilding.com App, master coaches, and a selective roster of partner brands exist for the same reason the original site did — to give people the tools, then get out of the way so they can do the work.
Full body or an upper/lower split beats a random chest-and-arms circuit. Train the whole body, leave a rep or two in the tank, and add a little each week.
Hit protein. Eat enough to train hard. If fat loss is the goal, a modest deficit beats a crash. If muscle is the goal, a slight surplus plus patience beats dirty bulk chaos.
Food first. Then creatine, a quality protein, and — if you train early or hard — a pre-workout you actually tolerate. Signature exists so that stack is simple, dye-free, and built for performance.
Fuel the work and gear up for every rep — shop the full lineup.
Bodybuilding.com is a fitness company founded in 1999. We sell sports nutrition, apparel, and training gear, publish education, and run an app with workouts, tracking, and coaches. The mission is simple: Build Your Body, Build Your Mind, Build Your Life.™
No. Competitive bodybuilding is one lane. The same methods — progressive lifting, protein-forward eating, and recovery — help anyone who wants more muscle, less fat, better strength, or a more capable body. If you train with intent, you are already in the culture.
It means making the work a little harder over time: more weight, more reps, better form, or less rest. Muscle and strength adapt to demand. If every session looks identical for months, progress stalls. Log your lifts and nudge them forward.
Creatine monohydrate is one of the most studied supplements in sports nutrition. It supports high-intensity performance, muscle, and has research around cognition. We were one of the first stores to sell it online, and it remains a Signature staple because the evidence is boringly consistent.
Signature is our house brand, launched in 2018. It covers the core stack — protein, pre-workout, creatine, vitamins, and more — with formulas aimed at performance and, in the current lineup, no artificial dyes. Members often get extra savings on Signature year-round.
Choose a simple full-body or upper/lower program, train 3–4 days a week, learn the big patterns, and eat enough protein. Sleep. Walk. Stay on the plan for 12 weeks before you overhaul it. The Bodybuilding.com App and our coaches exist if you want the guesswork removed.
No. Training, food, and recovery do the heavy lifting. Supplements fill gaps and make consistency easier — a scoop of protein when meals fall short, creatine every day, caffeine when you need a sharper session. We sell them because they help, not because they replace the work.
We take a selective approach. Partners have to clear our bar for safety, quality, and usefulness. We would rather carry fewer brands that push the category forward than stock every label on the market.
